Dollar Store Vintage Frame DIY

Just popping on here today to share a quick and easy Dollar Store DIY that I’m obsessed with and will definitely be doing more of! The cost was just $6 in total ($4 for the frame and a little under $2 for the paint + brush - all from Dollarama!), and took just a couple of minutes to do. Let’s get into it…

STEP 1: Buy your frame. I got mine from Dollarama for $4. Your dollar store will inevitably have different sizes and styles - choose what works for you! I’m thinking of grabbing some smaller square frames to make a mini wall gallery in our upstairs bathroom. My tip is to figure out where you want to put your frame(s) before buying.

P.S. You can watch the video tutorial here on my YouTube channel.

STEP 2: Buy your paint! I grabbed this Spun Gold colour from my local Dollarama. It’s very thin, cheap paint, but it gets the job done at a price point that makes my wallet happy. ;)

STEP 3: Start painting! I just started to haphazardly swipe on paint and was not precious about this process at all. I wanted it to look imperfect and aged! Let it dry between coats.

STEP 4: Do a million coats. JK JK! I did five coats of paint and you can see my end result below. Keep in mind I wanted some of the brown undertone to come through so it would look more aged. You do you!

And there she is all styled up in my kitchen with a mossy green print that I found in a small local shop. I’m in LOVE and can’t wait to make more!
