Our kitchen is very much a “working kitchen,” and while I love adding in fall decor throughout our home, I strive to keep it simple and neutral in this very busy space. Our kitchen, like most, has quite a few necessary items taking up space on our kitchen counters, so I’m careful to only add a few simple and neutral fall decor pieces where it makes sense.
Beyond a few season-specific items, I try to simply bring the warmer textures of the season in through useful and practical items like flour sack tea towels, warm wooden photo frames, and loosely woven rugs. I find this all compliments our white and brass kitchen quite nicely as well!
Since we spend so much of our day here in the kitchen preparing meals, crafting and homeschooling, I’ve kept the fall decor simple! But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t feel autumnal and festive. ;)
We’re lucky to live in a region where Mother Nature really shows off her colors throughout October. So, my first order of business is always opening our windows up wide so we can fully appreciate the golds, oranges and reds in the foliage around our house.
Kitchen Fall Decor - Pumpkins and Gourds
Then it’s as simple as bringing in those natural fall textures and hues through gourds, fall stems (faux and real!), a few small pumpkins, and any decor that suits that cozy neutral fall color palette. Simple changes really can go a long way, especially in a smaller home like ours.
I especially love to eat squash this time of year, so I fill this oversized decorative mixing bowl on the end shelf of our kitchen with butternut, acorn and spaghetti squash. Seasonal produce is such a wonderful way to decorate the home for fall as it serves a purpose in the space and is very intentionally placed.
Kitchen Fall Decor - Fall Stems & Foliage
Just as I do throughout the rest of my home, I always like to add fall stems - faux and real - to our kitchen space. I love bringing in elements from our very own garden, like these full hydrangea blooms on our kitchen table. They instantly bring autumn into this space that we spend so much time in each day. I do also use some dried eucalyptus on our kitchen counter in an old thrifted croc - I love the muted green and earthy feel it lends to the space.
I hope these simple and neutral fall kitchen decor ideas will give you some inspiration for your own kitchen decor as you head into this festive season!
